My four oldest kids ...Loved reading your thoughts! My four oldest kids all take piano. Both my husband and I play and feel like it is such a good basis for ANY other type of instrument or vocal. It is also such an awesome outlet to just go and sit and play. I remember doing that quite a few times during college.<br /><br />ANYWAY, I have never thought of it as work to practice. Even though it is totally hard work to master a piece or do techniques over and over. It just brought a light bulb on to me that teaching work also comes through music, art, dance and sports lessons.
