everybody dance now...

We've had some fun birthday parties over the years. The Desert Party (Drew), where i set up a tent, made the professor wear Arabian headgear, invented a camel relay, a bug search and a dig in the sand game. Our neighbors thought we were doing "Mormon things". :) Pokemon party, many, many princess parties, the mermaid party (complete with homemade tails and a trip to the pool-- where we prayed no one would drown in their tails), a cowboy party, a kitten party, "Down on Grandpa's Farm Party" (at a nursing home when Jakob turned 2-- this was probably my all-time favorite party, at the end, the nursing home offered me a job). We've had transportation parties, hosted a murder mystery, and this year-- Anna choose the Singin' and Dancin' Party. Actually, she really wanted to do a REPEAT Princess Party... she loved the Cinderella Relay where I had two baskets full of aprons and cleaning supplies, each team had to put everything on and clean something up... one little girl just kept dusting and dusting my bookshelf. When I tried to help her move on, she said, "But it's still dirty..." all for the game, I explained. This year, I had the most fun burning cds for all the kids with songs like ChaCha Slide, YMCA, Who Let the Frogs Out?, Yakity Yak, Sugar Pie Honey Bunch, etc. SO FUN! (Thanks for the technical support Corrie.) We sang and danced, we made a music video, we played musical place mats. Yes, there were tears, but no blood. Anna cried because she didn't win at musical place mats... i threatened to serve her birthday cake without her. :) Actually, I think we had 4 kids crying at once with musical place mats... Note to Self: don't do the elimination type games. It works better when you play "hot potato", where the person who is holding the potato when the music stops gets a prize... and, have a prize for everyone. it was crazy, but fun. I had the party start right after school-- 3:30-5pm. That worked GREAT! Check out my face while anna was blowing out the candles...
the music video costumes... we were low budget.
and, can you believe how big my baby is... i hardly recognize her in these pictures...
we like parties.
in fact, the kids are in bed and todd's waiting for me in the family room...
(he LOVES waiting for me to post blogs...)
once the kids are asleep, we are going to have our own little party.
some old movie he rented.
we may even warm up with the cha cha slide... thanks casper.
you know, casper, the guy who invented the cha cha slide...
