widows welcome.

luckily we felt inside jakob's shoe BEFORE he put his foot into it.
can you believe there was a BLACK WIDOW spider inside??
ughhh!!!
Texas has bugs.
BIG bugs.
They're NASTY and sometimes dangerous...
the professor stepped on a scorpian in our BEDROOM.
(we live in new construction... on what used to be a cotton field...)

maybe tomorrow, just check before you slide into those old tennies.
or don't.
you may become good friends with an old widow.

  1. Here is OK we have oodles and oodles of brown recluse spiders--the other poisonous spiders. I can't even imagine actually finding one in my shoes, but we learned when we moved here that they could be anywhere...like in our t-shirts, and so we check our shoes before we put them on . Gosh, I can just imagine what my kids would do! But our various spiders also bring us some georgeous Charlottes web Type webs...okay not that extravagant, but they are pretty awesome nonetheless.

  2. That gives me the heebie jeebies. We get lots of nasty spiders inside and it drives me crazy. We found a black widow but thankfully it was outside- climbing up the doorcasing to find its way in, I guess. At least we didn't find it inside...we'll be looking in our shoes more often now. Thank goodness we haven't seen any scorpions around our house.

  6. yes, those are his everyday shoes.
no, we don't check all the time.
he left his shoes in the garage overnight and he saw some cob webs on the top so he asked his dad to check them...
the professor tapped the shoe in the sink and out came a black widow.
    EWE!!!
