I want my children to know the adult songs at church, not just the songs written specifically for children.
I made up our own words only song book to use during our Family Night and Morning Devotional.
I LOVE these songs-- i can't wait for my children to love them also.
Here is a GREAT talk by Elder Dallin H. Oaks-- Worship Though Music.
SO good.
I love this quote...
“Inspirational music is an essential part of our [HOME] meetings. The hymns invite the Spirit of the Lord, create a feeling of reverence, unify us as members, and provide a way for us to offer praises to the Lord.
“Some of the greatest sermons are preached by the singing of hymns. Hymns move us to repentance and good works, build testimony and faith, comfort the weary, console the mourning, and inspire us to endure to the end” (Hymns, 1985, p. ix).
The singing of hymns is one of the best ways to put ourselves in tune with the Spirit of the Lord. I wonder if we are making enough use of this heaven-sent resource in our meetings, in our classes, and in our homes. (Dallin H. Oaks, Worship Thru Music. Ensign, Oct. 1994
it is easy to make your own hymn book-- i just copied and pasted the text only words from lds.org.
But, here is mine if you want to copy it!
