We LOVE Crayola Crayons...

Yeah, we made these! Can I tell you how many broken crayons came out of the kids' backpacks? I've always wanted to make Chubby Crayons and today, we did it.
STEP ONE- Peel and break the crayons into small pieces. Add 1/4 teaspoon of vegetable oil to each container.
STEP TWO- Melt for about 8 minutes in the oven on 275*.
STEP THREE- Wait for them to cool and the seriously just POP! right out of the tin. (Don't get nervous... just wait till they are completely cool...)
So Fun!! This was a great hour long project that just made a fun end to our school stuff organization.

A time for order...

OK, I'm ready for Monday... I went to the local teacher store and got this pocket chart for $10. I had to print out my own labels, but it was really fun thanks to microsoft office online clipart. Notice there are no times on my schedule, just an order to the day, except for music lessons. My kids are already excited for Monday to start and I don't think it will be a huge surprise to them that they can't watch TV all day.

These are our summer school work books. I actually went to a few different stores and then ended up buying them for $10 at Amazon. They have cute incentive charts and just one front and back page per day durning the summer.

It's finally here!!
Today is the last day of school and I get my kids with me all summer!!
They are already planning the "books" that they are going to write and the plays they are going to perform.
Horray for summer!!
Hope I can enjoy every moment and not worry about my messy house...

Cowboy Up!

These are two baby quilts that my friend Grey Speed and I made.
It's really fun to live in a state that has a theme!
We love Texas!!

Welcome Frogs!

Announcing the arrival of TRIPLETS

(well, not really since two already have legs and one seems younger)

Princess, Cobra and Nippy...
The kids were mesmorized for hours-- it works better than Gameboys (almost).

Getting Ready for SUMMER!!

I'm so excited for the summer! (Kindof...)
We are having a theme summer. "Doing Great Things"

We're starting with a unit on Creation "God Makes Great Things", then we're talking about some Old Testament prophets with a unity on "Men and Women Can do Great things with God's Help." I'm really excited about our unit on America (this July) "God Created a Great Land" and we're ending with a study of inventors with a unit "Many Men and Women Invented Great Things That Changed the World."

Ok, so I have to tell you some of the cool things we're doing. I just got in the mail a DVD set that my sister-in-law, Rebekah, told me about... It's a double collection of 10 DVDs- The Blue Earth (all about the ocean) and The Planet Earth (about the land). Normally each DVD is $20, but the whole set only cost me $45 on Amazon. (I almost bought the set at the bookstore for $90). The DVDs have a temple feel and are so beautiful. Already we watched the first one and I'm SO EXCITED!!

PUSH THIS LINK AND YOU CAN SEE A PREVIEW OF IT!!

Planet Earth & The Blue Planet Seas of Life (Special Collector's Edition) by David Attenborough (DVD - Oct 2, 2007)
Buy new: $119.98 $85.99
56 Used & new from $46.82

And, we also ordered tadpoles by mail. I'm so excited! Try http://www.growafrog.com/ we ordered the tadventures kit for $25 on sale for mother's day. I think we'll get 3 little tadpoles that will grow into swimming dwarf frogs by the end of the summer. Someday we'll add them to an aquarium.

And, the boys are really excited to finally grow our crystal kit that we've been saving.

Tomorrow I'm going to the library to check out 20 books that I found in the online catalog about creation. We're going to talk about different religion and culture's ideas about creation.

I can't stand the thought of cleaning the house, doing laundry and fixing 3 meals a day being pregnant with 5 kids at home... I have to think of fun things to do or I'll go crazy. Hopefully, my kids will only remember these fun things and not the fact that they will be eating cereal for breakfast lunch and dinner the next few months. (It's fortified.)
